2007 U14G Regional Tournament

The primary purpose of the Tournament is to have fun while gaining tournament experience.
The Tournament is also used to determine which teams advance to the Area Tournament in Menlo Park, December 1-2, 2007.
The four (4) teams finishing highest in the Regional Tournament will advance to the Area Tournament.
No awards (trophies, medals, ribbons, certificates) are given for placings in the Regional Tournament.

If the Regional Tournament is not played on Nov. 17, the Tournament will be canceled and
  the top four teams in the final regular season standings will advance to the Area Tournament.








Every player present must play at least one half of each game.










Tournament Format




The Tournament will be played according to the Tournament Rules. All coaches and referees should read these Rules prior to the Tournament.
Teams are seeded according to their final regular season standings (which do not include practice games):

Each team will play a 35-minute game (for points) against each of the two other teams in its pool.

The team finishing 1st in each pool will play in the Championship Game.


The team finishing 2nd in each pool will play in the 3rd Place Game.


The team finishing 3rd in each pool will play in the 5th Place Game.










Pool Play and Playoff Game Format












Each game will consist of two 17.5-minute halves. There will be a substitution break at the end of the first half.
ONLY PLAYERS LEAVING THE GAME MAY LEAVE THE FIELD. Players staying in the game may come
to the touchline to get a quick drink but must return to their positions quickly. The break will last only 1-2 minutes.
COACHES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE THAT THEIR PLAYERS OBSERVE THIS TIME LIMIT.








Scoring





Tournament scoring will be used to award points to each team for each game in the Pool Play round:




Win: 6 points





Tie: 3 points





Shutout: 1 point (a 0-0 tie = 1 shutout point for each team)



Goals: 1 point for each goal (maximum: 3 points per game)










If two or more teams in the same pool have the same point totals after the completion of the Pool Play round, the tie will be broken in this order:

1. head-to-head result in Pool Play






2. fewer total goals allowed





3. larger goal differential (total goals scored minus total goals allowed; maximum: +/- 3 per game)

4. coin toss













Game Schedules













The game schedule and official tournament scoreboard will be posted near the entrance to Cubberley Stadium.
Games will be played on Cubberley Football Field ("CFB") and JLS #1 (5th Place Game only).



On CFB, the Home team's players, coaches and spectators will occupy the NORTH (main grandstand) touch line of the field.
On JLS #1, the Home team's players, coaches and spectators will occupy the WEST (tennis courts) touch line of the field.
The Away teams' players, coaches and spectators will occupy the OPPOSITE side of each field from the Home teams.
There is a portable toilet at the entrance to Cubberley Stadium.  A Women's Restroom is located on the east (inside) end of J-Wing.
A Men's Restroom is located on the east (inside) end of K-Wing.
Teams must clean up the touch lines and grandstands, properly disposing of all trash, food, and drink containers, after each game.
All pets inside the Stadium fence or in either grandstand must be leashed at all times.
Teams playing the first/last games of the day on CFB are responsible for putting up/taking down the goal nets.
Game balls and corner flags
for Cubberley Football Field games will be provided by the Tournament Director.
Coaches will complete the game cards provided by the Tournament Director and hand them to the Referee prior to each game.

Playoff Games





Games are two 17.5-minute halves with a 2-minute substitution break between halves.
A winner must be determined for all Playoff games, except the 5th Place Game.
If the 5th Place Game is tied at the end of regulation time, the tie will stand.



For games other than the 5th Place Game, if the score is tied at the end of 35 minutes of play,
 two 5-minute overtime periods will be played in their entirety (no "golden goal").
There will be a 2-minute substitution break between the overtime periods.


If still tied at the end of 10 minutes of overtime play, the match will be decided by kicks from the penalty mark (per FIFA LOTG).

Only players on the field at the end of the second overtime period are eligible to participate in kicks from the penalty mark.
